I came across an article today: LOVE AND MARRIAGE THE TORAH’S CRITERIA by Rivka Olenick.

It helped me think about my own marriage, and the way that many couples approach the idea of being together before they get married vs. what they think after the wedding. People often believe they know what love is after seeing a limited view of their spouse-to-be.

When they’re asked, “why do you guys want to get married?” They say, “I just love the way he [fill in the blank].” or “She and I have so much in common”.

But when a real test comes, like always having to pick her socks or dealing with his less than average meals (sic), both parties become greatly disenchanted. After they have the opportunity to discover more about the other person, the “love” fades and resentment moves in.

So what does it take to make it work? Of the happy couples I’ve talked with, most attribute their happiness to the real love that grows after marriage. Often times it’s not a pretty love. Partners may have to get dirty, like gardeners who expect good things to grow after they’ve done the work and have overcome their selfishness.

This kind of love grows when they lose a loved one but can find comfort from God and each other during their grief. It’s the kind of love that develops when they are in danger of losing their house or job, but can see beyond their circumstances. Or it’s the kind that matures when they’re able to overcome adultery and find forgiveness not only heals, but seals their bond to one another.

This love is not an overnight love. It doesn’t come quick, and it is a challenge for our microwave society. But these couples keep pressing on, believing that happiness can be achieved. Fortunately, for most persevering couples, it is.

Fishing In Yellowstone Park - Yellowstone Lake, The Snake River and Slough Creek

Yellowstone is one of the greatest fishing destinations in the USA. The park is loaded with thousands of miles of fishable rivers and lakes. Yellowstone contains a wide variety of coldwater game fish. The cutthroat trout is the native species of trout in the area and is a wonderful game species. An effort is being made to eradicate non-native species in the area, such as the lake trout and the rainbow trout. There are many, many great areas in Yellowstone from fly fishing small mountain lakes and streams for grayling and cutthroat to the mighty Yellowstone or Madison Rivers for monster trout. In this article I will discuss a few of my favorites.

Yellowstone Lake is extremely popular for cutthroat trout and lake trout. Taking a charter boat onto the lake and fishing deep diving spoons can yield some large lake trout. Also try casting flashy lures closer to shore for cutthroats. The cutthroats here are large, beautiful and put up a great fight. Fly fishermen should try fishing a dry fly in the evenings to coax a rise or streamers during the day.

One of my favorite rivers to fly fish in the world is the Snake River. I like to fish the Snake at the south entrance of the park and find that nymph fishing with a pair of prince nymphs set a foot apart to be deadly. I will also fish a dry dropper setup here if the fish are rising. The Snake in my opinion is one of the most beautiful and peaceful fishing rivers in the entire world. I think it is the perfect size because it is large enough to hold large fish but small and slow enough that it can easily be waded. The Snake is loaded with hungry trout and fishing this river is a true treat to any fisherman.

Another fun area to go fly fishing is Slough Creek. Slough Creek is easy to wade and is loaded with fish. Most of the fish here are small and the creek is more of a destination for someone who would rather catch lots of fish rather than large fish. However, that is certainly not to say that there is not the occasional big fish to be found here.

If you love fishing and have never been to Yellowstone than you should definitely make an effort to get up there. Parts of the park can be crowded, but there are many wonderful fishing spots where you won’t find another angler for miles and you have hundreds of hungry fish lined up just for you.

Love is a wonderfully simple concept, but it is never easy. Love and romance work together, hand in hand. Romance is when you show your spouse in your own special way how much you love her without ulterior motives. You introduce romance between you and your partner to show that there is love in your relationship You express your love through appreciation and in showing him or her that you have been thinking about them and your love. Romance and love is about selfless giving for the pure joy of making your marriage a happy union.

Love can never be expected to be perfect. Although some people might come close to perfect love, it is impossible to achieve. While love is a perfect feeling, humans are imperfect and cannot enjoy the perfection of love without flaws. It doesn’t matter, though. Imagine how boring a perfect love would be! Keep in mind that love is never about perfection and it should only be about love. Romance isn’t without its imperfections either. You will have hits and misses with romance. What works for one person may not work for another. Romance should simply be about love and it is important to remember that especially when you experience one of those ‘misses’.

When it comes to the emotional needs involved with love, men and women tend to far more similar than they are different. When it comes to sex, that’s where you’ll begin to see the noticeable differences between men and women. Every human being is a complex combination of both physical and psychological characteristics. The closer you move towards the sexual end of things, the noticeable the differences between men and women will be. When you take a look at the emotional needs of both men and women, they become far more similar.

When you approach romance, you cannot approach it as if it is a science or some task that can be controlled or predicted. Romance is an art form that should be expressed as creatively as possible. Romance can be simple or it can be outrageously outrageous! Love is something two people have to work at together. You need to be able to set any competitive nature aside and truly enjoy what your are able to give as well as what you receive. If you are always trying to outdo what your spouse has done or even what you have previously done as far as romantic attempts, you will eventually become frustrated and fall flat on your face. That’s not very romantic.

Romance should be personal and never feel forced or as if it is part of any bargain. Love should be given freely and accepted freely without conditions or guarantees. Any other expressions of love are doomed to hurt feelings and ultimately failure.
