Caribbean Travel Plans

I love visiting the bookstore. I am addicted to books and visiting the fiction section of the store was routine. The staff was extremely familiar with me as I was quite a regular. They had become accustomed to my presence and they didn’t seem to mind if I spent hours poring over the books without actually buying any.

As I was leaving one day for some reason the travel section caught my attention. I was used to traveling to new places that the books invented for me but I could never find the time to actually go somewhere by myself. My eyes quickly scanned the rows of travel books. There was one particularly big book on the Caribbean, which seemed interesting. As I leafed through the pages I was appalled at my own lack of knowledge. I didn’t realize that there were so many Caribbean islands. My geography teacher would have been ashamed of me.

The colorful pictures, attractions, historic sites, and list of luxury hotels in the Caribbean seemed more intriguing than I had initially expected. I suddenly found myself carrying the book to the cash counter only to find a surprised cashier who knew that I had never ever bought a book. He was shocked to see that my first buy turned out to be a book from the travel section. I quickly paid for it and rushed home to devour the book. The last time I took a trip was to Six Flags. That’s the only adventure I could think of. Going to the Caribbean seemed a bit of a stretch.

Aruba, Curacao, Barbados, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, and many more islands seemed closer than I thought. I immediately decided to plan a way to visit most of these places. By the end of the evening I was already planning how much money I‘d have to save to make a trip as soon as possible.

I can proudly say that I stuck to my travel plans and have visited nearly 5 countries in the Caribbean so far and intend on increasing that number. I recommend a trip to the Caribbean to everyone.
