Ken Mehlman: Guest Speaker for CIO Event

Ken Mehlman appeared as a guest speaker for a CIO event that took place on Oct 28 to 30 in 2007. The event was called “Looking Ahead to 2008.” With his vast experience in politics, he is known as a popular political strategist praised for his knack in party-building during elections. He was the 62nd chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), as well as the campaign manager for former President Bush’s re-election in 2004.

His expertise in the field of politics landed him high positions in the White House - as a political director - and in Capitol Hill. At Capitol Hill, his main goal was to help people solve problems focused on politics, policy and business. Ken Mehlman assisted those who were facing problems in regulatory, corporate, public and legislative relations.

When he was the chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), Ken Mehlman adopted new political strategies in increasing funds for the RNC political party and this resulted to sky-rocketing their number of voters. His effort to reach the public, especially in encouraging the new generation to vote, has made him a well-respected and influential individual. After the 2006 Elections, however, he did not renew his term as chairman of RNC but he was quickly hired by KKR as the managing director and head of its global public affairs.
